Community Reading Circles

A monthly Learning Community @The Sanctuary

with

Meghan Bohardt & Barbara Walkowiak

Have you attended a workshop or coaching session at The Sanctuary and want to stay connected with the topics?

Do you find yourself reading books about somatics, trauma, embodiment, or healing and wishing you had others to reflect with?

Would you like to be part of a community of people who are committed to their own healing and personal growth?

The Community Reading Circle was created as a space where learning becomes a shared experience. Together we explore books, essays, articles, poems, podcasts, and other inspiring texts related to somatics, embodiment, nervous system regulation, trauma, emotional processing, mindfulness, and human development.

More than a book club, this is a facilitated learning community.

We believe that healing is supported not only through knowledge, but through reflection, dialogue, connection, and embodied experience. By meeting regularly, we create continuity, accountability, and a trusted space where ideas can be integrated into everyday life.

Each session includes a grounding practice, facilitated discussion, opportunities to connect the material with personal experience,

and practical insights from Barbara Walkowiak. Snacks and tea create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where meaningful conversations can unfold.

We will gather.

Our Vision

Together Meghan and I wanted to create a monthly Community Reading Circle dedicated to exploring the fields of somatics, embodiment, trauma, neuroscience, and the wisdom of healing the body.

The intention is to create an anchor—a consistent place where people can deepen their understanding of these subjects through shared reading, study, dialogue, and embodied exploration. So often we begin reading inspiring books only to lose momentum as life gets busy. This circle offers a rhythm that helps us stay engaged, curious, and accountable while integrating what we learn over time.

Each month we will meet to discuss selected readings, exchange perspectives, ask questions, and connect the material to lived experience. The aim is not only to understand concepts intellectually, but to embody them through reflection and practice within a supportive community.

More than a book club, this is a learning community. It is a space for people who are passionate about understanding the body, the nervous system, trauma, healing, and human development. Through studying together, we cultivate deeper insight, meaningful relationships, and the experience of learning in community.

The Community Reading Circle also forms an important foundation for the Body Integration Training that will begin next year. Participants who wish to continue into the training will already have developed a shared language, a strong theoretical foundation, and relationships within the group. This enriches the quality of the training while making the learning process more enjoyable, collaborative, and alive.

Our vision is to create a vibrant community of lifelong learners who support one another in studying, questioning, integrating, and living the principles of embodied healing.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your membership within one month before the start of the Reading Circle, we are unable to offer a refund.

If you are no longer able to participate, you are welcome to transfer your place to another person. Please let us know in advance so we can update the participant information.

Supporting The Sanctuary Library

Should a place become available due to cancellation without a replacement, or if a participant is unable to attend, the contribution will not be lost. Instead, it will support the continued growth of The Sanctuary Library.

Your contribution helps us build a carefully curated collection of inspiring books and resources on somatics, trauma, embodiment, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and personal development—resources that will be available to our community for years to come.

Thank you for supporting not only your own learning, but also a shared space of knowledge, connection, and growth.

"Thank you for your compassionate and deeply human wayof being.
I'll definitely be back!
I never knew I needed something like this
in my life until I experienced it today.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"
Kerstin, Austria

How everything started...

Like many meaningful things, the Community Reading Circle began with a simple conversation.

It was Meghan's idea. She reached out to me and asked whether I would be interested in creating this project together. The invitation immediately resonated with something I had been longing for myself—a space where people could continue learning beyond workshops, where knowledge could be explored in community, and where meaningful conversations could deepen our understanding of ourselves and each other.

From this small seed, the vision of the Community Reading Circle began to grow.

Together, we created a space where curiosity is welcomed, different perspectives enrich one another, and learning becomes an embodied experience rather than simply an intellectual one. A space to slow down, reflect, ask questions, and discover how the ideas we read can gently shape the way we live, relate, and accompany others.

We are grateful to be nurturing this community together and look forward to welcoming everyone who feels inspired to learn, connect, and grow alongside us.
